On November 1, 1817, the independence heroine Barbarita de la Torre died in the state of Trujillo.
He was born on December 4, 1790. Also known as the Trujillana Amazon, she was the captain of groups of Trujillans who fought for the country's independence. She reached the rank of colonel during her performance in battles.
He participated in the following battles: El Cenizo, El Dividive, Monay, Monaicito, Agua Santa, Las Trincheras de Betijoque, Los Cuarteles, Los Higuerotes and Niquitao; battles that took place in the Venezuelan Andean region. He was present at the signing of the War to the Death Decree, in Trujillo, on June 15, 1813.
Barbarita de La Torre died after being arrested and imprisoned by the realistic mixed race, a native of Siquisique, Lara state, Juan de Los Reyes Vargas in La Ceibita.
