In recent months, 400 housing loans have been approved for those affected by the double earthquake of last June 24, demonstrating a “significant” activation of allocations, said Pedro Pacheco, president of the Venezuelan Banking Association.

“We have seen a significant activation of that credit in recent months and there are already more than 400 approved credits,” Pacheco said in statements replicated by the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN).

He reported that the loan portfolio exceeded 4 billion dollars and noted that this year growth could be approximately 45%. In this sense, he projected that in a period of one and a half to three years the country will have “growing credit”.

He noted that the figures reached at the last accounting close at the end of September are “a good symptom” for the country. He mentioned that this “growth could be greater”, but that monetary policies related to the legal framework and debt instruments are required.

Among the benefits offered by the financing, the easing of conditions for people who lost their documents or those who did not yet have title to property stood out.

For this, those affected must submit receipts for basic public services, the RIF or some streaming service platform that verifies their address for banking institutions to accept it.

The president of the association stated that after meeting this requirement, people are “effectively recognized that right to have this credit”.
