The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, made statements to the press, from the headquarters of the Public Ministry (MP) in Caracas , to publicize the recent actions carried out by this institution regarding the PDVSA-Critpo case.

In this regard, he assured that those arrested for acts of economic corruption were also linked to “the country's worst enemies (...) They are two sides that disgust each other, but that decided to join forces to overthrow the legitimately constituted government. They knew about Operation Gideon, and that is unforgivable.”

In this regard, he pointed out that Samark López was the link between Tareck El Aissami and representatives of the right, including: Julio Borges, Leopoldo López, Carlos Ocariz and James Story, while specifying that he “is chosen because he was the financial operator of the mafia structured by El Aissami.”

During his statements, the holder of the tax action presented a series of audios and videos that demonstrate the above-mentioned link.

Saab specified that the data provided on new actors are extremely important and are part of this new line of research “that we never rule out”, in addition to achieving the dismantling of this case of corruption, which “is an absolute victory for Venezuelan institutions. A triumph for an impeccable investigation.”

In this regard, he indicated that 32 corruption schemes linked to the oil industry, including PDVSA-Cripto, have been investigated, and 290 people have been prosecuted and 76 have been convicted.

“In total, since August 2017, we have charged 12,639 people for acts of corruption, 11,254 have been charged and 4,810 have been convicted. This clearly states that there will be no impunity for the corrupt, traitors, terrorists or anyone who commits any kind of crime,” he said.

Regarding the arrests of the corruption scheme in its first phase, he indicated that “we have 54 involved; and in the second phase there are 14 more. Everyone was involved in political conspiracy.”
