Athletes pay posthumous tribute to Francisco “Morochito” Rodríguez at the IND

From the headquarters of the National
Sports Institute (IND), glories of Venezuelan sports paid posthumous tribute
to the first winner of a gold medal in an Olympic Games for
Venezuela, Francisco “Morochito” Rodríguez.
The Minister of Popular Power
for Youth and Sports, Mervin Maldonado, who was present at the tribute, thanked Morochito's family for allowing him to be honored.
“The great
sports family gathered here, because that's what we are, a great family, to pay a well-deserved tribute and say goodbye to the Venezuelan boxing
legend,” he said.
Maldonado announced that the gymnasium
of the National Boxing Team is renamed Francisco “Morochito”
Rodríguez, “so that it is always present as a living, permanent example in
every training, in every preparation of our boys”.
