At least four people lost their lives in Spain after the devastating passage of the isolated depression at high levels (DANA) called Adam, a meteorological phenomenon that caused rivers to overflow, flooded municipalities and the deployment of intense rescue efforts in the Iberian coastal area.

According to information provided by Telesur, all the deaths occurred in the town of Oliva, in the Valencian Community, one of the regions hardest hit by the accumulation of more than 600 liters of water per square meter, a situation that led to the collapse of rural roads and the flooding of houses.

Given the magnitude of the emergency, the head of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, moved to the affected area together with the president of the Government of the Government, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, with the objective of coordinating assistance operations with the civil protection authorities and the mayors of the affected jurisdictions.

Although the rains caused multiple rescues of people trapped on roofs in the provinces of Valencia and Alicante, the situation began to gradually stabilize in the Balearic Islands, where the authorities proceeded to lift the red alert that remained on Mallorca, Ibiza and Formentera.
