The Executive Secretary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP), Jorge Arreaza, asserted that the Alliance is the synthesis of everything that Commanders Hugo Chávez and Fidel Castro shared and dreamed of for America, where then different countries that shared the same ideals joined.
In the Special Program 20 Years of ALBA, broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión, he highlighted that ALBA-TCP was born for the unification of nations.
“ALBA-TCP was born for union and was born so that that union is not between the dominant elites, neither political nor economic, but rather between the Peoples. If ALBA has added to anything, more than any other international organization in our history, it is in rescuing the project of the union and in making progress on very concrete things,” he said.
Arreaza said that the presidents and ministers who participated in the XXIV Summit of Heads of State and Government ratified the principles and values of the ALBA-TCP.
“They confirmed why each of these countries: Nicaragua, Bolivia, Cuba, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent, Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Kitts and Nevis, in this very convulsive geopolitical moment, sees in the ALBA-TCP the tool to move forward with their Peoples,” he said.
He also considered that America constitutes one of the most powerful poles in the new scheme that emerges.
“None of the countries, no matter how big they are, neither Mexico, nor Brazil, nor Argentina, will be truly independent or prosperous if they do not understand that we must unite, especially in a multipolar world where Latin and Caribbean America, our America, constitutes one of the most powerful poles of the continent,” he explained.
