Argentina: State Workers Association announces continuity of strike and new mobilization

This Thursday, the State Workers Association (ATE) of Argentina will continue its plan of struggle with a national strike and a mobilization in front of the Ministry of Deregulation, located in the city of Buenos Aires.
In a statement, the general secretary of ATE, Rodolfo Aguiar, explained that the protest actions are aimed at denouncing the risk faced by 50,000 citizens, whose employment ties expire on the 31st of this month, details Prensa Latina.
“We have to prevent the government from executing a new cut in the State. All contracts must be renewed automatically. We will not tolerate mass layoffs,” said the leader.
He also assured that ATE will participate in a general strike called by the General Confederation of Labor for April 10, but pointed out that this other measure of force is necessary before that date because the positions of these people are at risk.
There are more than 50,000 employment relationships that expire and ATE requires that they comply with the automatic and annual renewal, as established in Resolution 26/24 of the Ministry of Deregulation and State Transformation.
“A mobilized strike will allow us to continue defending our constitutional right to demonstrate and petition the authorities freely,” said Aguiar, adding that the attendance of ATE members to a march for the Day of Remembrance for Truth and Justice.
