The former president and current leader of the Justicialist Party, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner (CFK) said that Argentina is experiencing a context of institutional decomposition of the three branches of government in a serious economic framework.
The former president asserted that “the people have to come back organized” and criticized the approval by Congress of a Decree of Necessity and Urgency (DNU) that authorizes the Government of Javier Milei to contract more debt with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The statements were made during the development of a National Educational Congress at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Buenos Aires.
The former president considered the situation of the Legislative Branch to be “very serious” and referred to the investigation against a former senator for his alleged involvement in a case of illicit enrichment.
The crisis also occurs in the Judiciary with a Supreme Court, where three members agreed to be appointed by decree. That body maintains DNU 70/23 in force, which is a disguised reform of the Constitution, he said.
The former president that all this occurs in a scenario marked by the worsening of the economic situation, the increase in layoffs and prices.
“This Argentina, this political system, has no institutional strength, it doesn't exist. It is exhibited in society as a caste,” said CFK.
