Last Tuesday, the general secretary of the Association of State Workers (ATE) of Argentina, Rodolfo Aguiar, questioned two decrees of the Government of Javier Milei that add to the campaign launched against employment in the public sector, from which he has already fired around 36,000 workers.

The Minister of Deregulation and Transformation of the State, Federico Sturzenegger, confirmed through his account in X that, starting next March, to hire employees in the Public Administration, applicants must pass an “eligibility test”. This is part of Decree 1149/24.

He pointed out that another decree, 1148/24, published with the signature of Milei, stipulates that in 2025 any discharge of personnel in the State will only be possible if for each one the area had verified three previous casualties. In other words, to hire a new employee, three must have been fired beforehand.
