Antonio Guterres on Gaza: Law and Order Have Disappeared

António Guterres, the Secretary General of the United Nations (UN), during a press conference from the agency's headquarters in New York (USA), warned about the serious situation in Gaza.

“We are in a situation of total anarchy, a situation where law and order have completely disappeared, no one is in charge of security anywhere in the Gaza area,” he said.

Guterres stressed the constant looting of convoys with humanitarian aid. “And the worst thing is that on three consecutive days, three UN convoys were hit by fire: Sunday, Monday and Tuesday,” he said.

“The humanitarian situation in Gaza is a total disaster” and he listed two reasons. “First of all, this is a military campaign that has had the highest level of death and destruction that I remember in any other military campaign since I became Secretary General, anywhere in the world,” he said.
