Antonio Ecarri: We reiterate our total rejection of any sanctions mechanism

“Let's not enter a time of change, but rather a change of era for all, without exclusion (...) We must achieve an electoral process that brings stability to Venezuela, so that more than ever the pockets of Venezuelans have been touched,” said the president of the opposition party, Alianza del Pencil, Antonio Ecarri, during the National Dialogue Day to discuss the 2024 electoral schedule.

In that regard, he reiterated his total rejection of any sanction mechanism against Venezuela, “one thing is political problems and another thing is the pocket of Venezuelans.”

Among some of the requests he made in the run-up to the elections, was the presence of the European Union and of “ important international organizations”.

“The International Community is not meant to violate our sovereignty, because it is here to defend it. This is not a matter of incursion, or of violation, it is to simply come and certify the democracy that we all have an obligation to build,” he said.

He also insisted that this scenario that we are seeing today, of understanding, “we have to tell the international community”.
