Immunization teams from 259 outpatient clinics and clinics in the state of Mérida are mobilized in a vaccination campaign against polio, said Sandra Ruiz, the head of the El Llano Comprehensive Community Health Area (ASIC), Libertador municipality.

This day, of state scope, consists of IPV immunization (acronym in English for Inactivated Poliomyelitis Vaccine) for children between the ages of zero and eight, Ruiz said in statements to the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN)

The local chapter of the day, which began this Monday, February 10, will last for two consecutive months “in all primary care health facilities in the state of Mérida,” said Ruiz from the Rafael Antonio Godoy elementary school, where the central activity was carried out to start the day.

He highlighted that the entire team from the immunization area of the El Llano Urban Outpatient Clinic participates in the vaccination day in each municipality and each outpatient clinic.

The activity is carried out in conjunction with the Barrio Adentro Mission, in compliance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Health.

“The call is to all parents and representatives to allow the immunization of their children, thus guaranteeing health and the effective prevention of polio,” concluded Sandra Ruiz.
