Per capita meat consumption in the country increased to 12.5 kilos per year, representing a 50% increase in consumption by 50%, said the president of the National Association of Supermarkets and Self-Services (ANSA), Ítalo Atencio.
According to an interview with Venezolana de Televisión (VTV) and replicated by the newspaper Últimas Noticias, Atencio pointed out that meat consumption, previously, was 8 kilograms per year.
He explained that the increase in meat intake is due to the increase in livestock production and stressed that as long as there is “more livestock production, there are more offers” of the product.
He also noted that the new proposals for agricultural production boosted the growth of units sold, ensuring that they have four consecutive years reflecting an increase of 5%.
