The National Assembly (AN), during its regular session this Thursday, unanimously approved the Cocoa Bill, in its first discussion.

“We must remember that cacao was the first fruit cultivated in colonial times for export, it was the first economic activity of that time,” emphasized the deputy Lisett Siboney, recalling that Commander Hugo Chávez described cocoa as the oil of that time and pointed out the importance of repowering this sector for the country's economy.

In this regard, he pointed out that this Bill establishes encouraging the production of cocoa as a strategic strategy for agri-food development, as well as the protection of the cocoa grower, chocolate grower and financing and encouraging primary production, among others.

“The more cacao is cultivated, the more life we would be bringing to our planet,” he said, while asserting that Venezuela will once again be an exporting power in this area.
