The National Assembly (AN) approved this Thursday in its second discussion the Draft Law Approving the Convention on the International Organization for Maritime Navigation Aid, with the purpose of improving the safety of national waters and adjusting Venezuelan legislation to international standards.

The proposal guarantees the correct application of international standards for marking, signage and support infrastructure in the country's maritime and fluvial areas. It also promotes technology transfer and ecological preservation through the optimal planning of maritime routes, which makes it possible to optimize traffic and protect ecosystems.

In the same way, the regulations contribute to the protection of artisanal fishing and to food sovereignty in coastal areas. This regulation seeks to protect the work areas of fishermen and to order the transit of boats to avoid incidents affecting the productive activities of communities.
