The deputies of the National Assembly approved, in the regular session this Tuesday, an authorization for the President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, to leave the country and attend the United Nations Food Organization (FAO).

The proposal was made by the deputy for the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), José Gregorio Colmenarez, who indicated that this trip of the First President has a “profound geopolitical significance” because with this mission Venezuela regains its place in multilateral organizations, breaking the international isolation to which it was intended to subject our country in recent years.

“This return to major world forums is not a fortuitous event, it is the result of the Bolivarian peace diplomacy that we have undertaken with the firm purpose of guaranteeing peace, stability and prosperity for our people. This is where we raise our voice to demonstrate that Venezuela is a fundamental actor in international balance,” he said.

In this regard, Colmenarez pointed out that the position of the President in these spaces vindicates Venezuela's position of refusing food to be used as political weapons or instruments of pressure.

“The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has historic ties with FAO. Precisely, in the face of the imposition of Unilateral Coercive Measures, in the face of the implementation of sanctions, this international organization recognized the efforts of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to eradicate hunger,” he said.
