AN approved Organic Law to guarantee comprehensive care for people with disabilities

In a historic plenary session, the National Assembly unanimously approved, in a second discussion, the Organic Law for the Inclusion, Equality and Integral Development of Persons with Disabilities.

During the debate on the above-mentioned legal instrument, the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, stressed that this law is an initiative of President Nicolás Maduro, who seeks to vindicate those who have been relegated for years.

In this regard, he emphasized that this is a historic day of inclusion, the result of the effort and struggle of thousands of people with disabilities who have worked tirelessly for the enactment of this law.

For her part, Deputy María Gabriela Vegas, one of the proponents of the law, indicated that during the process of debating and drafting it, an extensive public consultation was held in which more than 5,600 people with disabilities participated.

In the same way, he noted that meetings were held in 282 municipalities and 795 parishes across the country to reflect the needs and proposals of people with disabilities.

Vegas stressed that this law guarantees compliance with the Human Rights of people with disabilities, providing a legal framework that promotes their inclusion and integral development.

The deputy also thanked the parliamentarians and the National Government for the support provided by parliamentarians and the National Government for the creation of this historic legal instrument, which marks a milestone in the protection of the rights of people with disabilities in Venezuela.
