Ambassador Alexander Yánez, permanent representative of Venezuela to UN Geneva, during his speech this Tuesday before the Human Rights Council (DDHH), pointed out that Western countries insist on turning this instance into an instrument of coercion and blackmail against the peoples of the south.

In this regard, he assured that Western countries invest large amounts of the budgets allocated for the care of human rights in missions that objectively serve no purpose in favor of them.

He also rejected the report on the Venezuelan situation, prepared by the UN Mission, because it “shows that impartiality is conspicuous by its absence.”

“This mission elaborates its propaganda based on invented or politically motivated sources, financed by USAID corruption, without scientific rigor and with treacherous premeditation, to satisfy a club of countries that claim to be defenders of human rights,” he questioned.

The diplomat criticized the fact that the Human Rights Council, when it comes to condemning Israel without restrictions for the genocide in Palestine, “shamelessly” looks the other way. While “Venezuela, the first oil reserve on the planet, must be - according to them - pressured and controlled”.
