The ambassador of the European Union (EU) accredited to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Gilles Bertrand, led a wreath this Monday before the sarcophagus that holds the mortal remains of the Liberator Simon Bolivar, in the National Pantheon, on the occasion of the recent presentation of his Credential Letters.

During the protocol ceremony, Ambassador Bertrand was accompanied by part of the diplomatic corps accredited in Caracas and officials from the Ministry of People's Power for Foreign Affairs and International Trade.

On October 28, the European diplomat presented his Credential Letters to the President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, in the Sol del Perú Hall of the Miraflores Palace, which marked the formal beginning of his diplomatic functions in Venezuelan territory, as part of the strengthening of communication channels between the South American nation and the continental block.

Bertrand reaffirmed his commitment to advance a constructive work agenda that benefits both parties, who at that event reiterate their willingness to hold continuous diplomatic exchanges in the political, economic and international cooperation spheres.
