On December 26, 1904, Alejo Carpentier was born in Lausanne, Switzerland, a writer who stood out for his vast imagination that allowed him to create a universe that, between the real and the wonderful, reflects the great history of our America.

Carpentier arrived in Havana, Cuba, as a child, because his parents were interested in Hispanic culture. It was in this country that he trained and worked as a journalist until he moved to France where he gave birth to his first work "¡Ecué-Yamba-Ó! ”.

Later, he was in Haiti, Mexico and Venezuela, and his stay in the latter country was considered by his admirers to be the writer's most fruitful period, as it was where he completed the largest number and his most important literary works, among which “The Kingdom of this World” stands out.

After the Cuban Revolution came to power, he returned to his beloved Cuba, where he became part of the Revolutionary Government team until the day he died. As an official, he promoted a series of policies aimed at promoting the intellectual and cultural growth of Cubans.

On April 24, 1980, he died in the city of Paris, France. Considered to be one of the most prominent writers of 20th century Hispanic literature, today, the peoples of this continent honor the memory of this distinguished writer who, despite his European origins, studied the history of this land, which he captured with great beauty in each of his writings.
