On February 24, 1873, Alejandro Chataing, a Venezuelan architect known as “the great builder” during the government of Cipriano Castro, was born in Caracas.

His works gave him a Neo-Renaissance, Neo-Romanesque, Neo-Baroque and Moorish style that helped to renew the face of the Venezuelan capital.

His works include: Arco de Carabobo; Teatro Bolívar (former Rialto cinema); Quinta las Acacias, Academy of Fine Arts; The Military Academy; The General Archive of the Nation, among others.

Chataing died on April 16, 1928. His legacy that continues to inspire today.
