ALBA - TCP repudiated the imposition of new sanctions on Venezuela

The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America - Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) categorically rejected the imposition, by the United States, of Unilateral Coercive Measures on 16 officials of the Revolutionary Government of Venezuela.

In a statement issued by the regional block, the regional bloc denounced that, two months before the presidential elections, North American imperialism has not stopped attacking Venezuela.

In this regard, ALBA demanded respect for the sovereignty of the free peoples of Our America and the Caribbean.

The member states of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) categorically reject the new imposition of unilateral coercive measures by the United States government on Venezuelan citizens.

Less than two months before the presidential elections in Venezuela, in which President Nicolás Maduro Moros was re-elected, the U.S. government has continued to attack the sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in its quest to impose a change of government, against the will of the Venezuelan people. Today, Venezuela dawns with 16 citizens being unilaterally sanctioned simply for carrying out their functions and, basically, for being Venezuelans and not acting for the benefit of a Venezuelan political sector, which has a known history of being extremist and fascist and that has always shouted to be in favor of interventionism and the violation of international law, rather than assuming its defeat.

These measures not only attack the 16 sanctioned individuals; this criminal and illegal practice of the U.S. government against States that do not act in their interests alters the economic and political stability of this country and of the entire region.

The ALBA-TCP strongly repudiates this new attack against public officials, their human and civil rights and the Venezuelan nation in general, which threatens peace and tranquility throughout Latin America and the Caribbean and calls on regional governments to reject these measures and to promote diplomacy and respect for the self-determination of peoples.

The Bolivarian Alliance demands respect for the sovereignty of the free peoples of Our America and the Caribbean, while reaffirming its unrestricted support and solidarity with the people and government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
