The
executive secretary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples' Trade Agreement
(ALBA-TCP), Jorge Arreaza, participated this Friday in the 29th Ordinary Meeting of the Council of Ministers of
the Association of
Caribbean States (AEC), which is being held in Suriname.
“The first time
that Commander Chávez presented the idea of ALBA was in the heat of the 3rd
Summit of Heads of Government of the AEC in 2001. Today, the ALBA-TCP Strategic
Agenda 2030 shares several themes and objectives with the AEC
Action Plan 2022 28. We proposed maximum coordination between both instances to be more
effective in complying with them,” Arreaza said in his X account.
In the same
message, he expressed “the greetings of the 10 Heads of Government of ALBA-TCP and their Social
Movements throughout Our America and the world.”
As part of the cooperation
agenda, the Executive Secretary held a working meeting
with the Chancellor of Saint Lucia, Alva Baptiste, with whom he addressed the implementation
of the ALBA-TCP Strategic Agenda 2030, an action plan that seeks to
promote the joint development of the region, in the economic, political, social, cultural and communication spheres.
In the same way,
Arreaza met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba,
Josefina Vidal, with whom he spoke on various topics of common interest among the
countries of the Alliance, especially the Caribbean, in the framework of the fraternal meeting.
An
additional meeting was held with the ambassador of Antigua and Barbuda, Clarence
Pilgrim, with whom new opportunities were explored to strengthen regional cooperation.
