This Wednesday, the executive secretary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP), Jorge Arreaza, denounced the development of a campaign to wipe the face of the Spanish empire, in which Latin American intellectuals are involved.
“We noticed the development of a very well organized (and certainly very well paid) campaign, to try to cleanse that Spain of its undeniable crimes and errors,” said the diplomat on his account on the social network Telegram.
Arreaza stressed that the crusade has even been joined by intellectuals and influencers born in Our America, and insisted that “they must be very well paid for every trip, with every book, at every conference and with every post.”
He also denounced that they use the term “black legend” to try to demonstrate supposed visions and unfair positions against monarchical Spain, which, during the conquest, would have been humanitarian and would have been concerned with civilization and with the human and integral development of “its overseas territories”.
The Secretary General of ALBA-TCP added that they deny the nature of colonies in those lands across the Atlantic, in this sense, exponents go so far as to denounce a supposed “Bolivarian pink legend”, which ends up linking to another ongoing campaign against the role and inexorable greatness of the Liberator.
“Simon Bolivar prevented the development of the peoples of Our America by freeing them from Spain,” he said and added. “According to them, he remarked, Bolívar wanted to be crowned king of Latin America (such supine ignorance) and he never wanted the freedom of the nascent republics.”
Arreaza said that they don't hold hatred or grudges, but they don't forget and they know where they come from and what it has cost them to go through their paths of life to exist. Denying the atrocities of the process of conquering the then Spanish Empire on American lands is like denying that the Earth orbits around the Sun.
