Through an official statement, the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) congratulated Cuba for the vote in the United Nations (UN) against the blockade.
Below is the full text of the statement:
The member States of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples' Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) congratulate the sister Republic of Cuba for the historic vote in the General Assembly of the United Nations against the illegal and criminal blockade of the United States on this sister country.
The entire world, in an unequivocal demonstration, expresses its total repudiation of this inhumane measure of more than six decades, which has caused incalculable damage to the well-being of the Cuban people and their economy, which has caused family ruptures and hundreds of difficulties in the food, health, transportation and other basic services sectors.
The courageous Cuban people have been able to overcome obstacles with resilience and dignity and do not bow to Washington's cruelty.
The member countries of ALBA-TCP will continue to raise their voices to demand that the United States government put an immediate end to the illegal economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba, as well as its exclusion from the arbitrary and unilateral list of countries that sponsor terrorism.
The ALBA-TCP sends its warm congratulations to the Cuban people and government, led by President Miguel Díaz-Canel and Army General Raúl Castro, certain that the Alliance is moving towards a more just, equitable and democratic world, guided by love and respect for the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean and taking as an example the dignity of Cuban women and Cubans.
