Academia Puerto Cabello takes advantage and remains at the top of the FUTVE League Apertura Tournament

After the 7 matches corresponding to the seventh round of the 2024 Apertura tournament of the Venezuelan Football League (FUTVE League), Academia Puerto Cabello is still at the top of the standings with 17 points, 4 more than the second.

The day began with the Portuguesa FC victory over Inter de Barinas 1-3, at the La Carolina stadium. The winning goals were scored by José Alí Meza at minute 22′, Manuel Granados at 34′ and Sergio Sulbarán at 78′, the discount came courtesy of Ángel Osorio at 86′.

For its part, UCV FC equalized 1-1 with Deportivo La Guaira. Rafael Arace scored for the visit at 30' and for the locals Luis Martínez at 44′. While Angostura FC defeated Deportivo Táchira 2-0, with goals from Juan Castellano at 64′ and Antony Velasco at 87′, at the Ricardo Tulio Maya stadium in Ciudad Bolívar.

Meanwhile, Saturday began with 1-1 equality between Metropolitanos FC and Estudiantes de Mérida, at the Olympic stadium in the capital city. The locals went up through Ely Valderrey at 74′ and Elías Alderete at 90+6′ penalty put the tie.

At the Misael Delgado stadium in Valencia, Carabobo FC defeated Zamora FC 3-1. The locals were victorious with a double from José Balza at 9′ and a goal from Edson Tortolero at 61′, while the only goal of the visit was scored by Mauricio Márquez at 14′.

In the other match played at the La Bombonerita stadium, Caracas FC fell to Academia Puerto Cabello 2-0, with goals from Rubén Rojas at 26′ and Nicolás Fedor at 29′.

The only match that was played on Sunday was won by Monagas SC, who beat Rayo Zuliano 2-1, at the Monumental Stadium in Maturín. Tomás Rodríguez at 83′ penalty and Cristopher Rodríguez at 90+4 scored the victory, while Armando Araque at 6′ scored for the visit.

These results leave UCV in second place with 13 points, Carabobo FC and Angostura FC are third and fourth, respectively, with 12 units each. While Metropolitanos and Monagas SC are in fifth and sixth place with 11 points, each.
