A total of 87 ophthalmological surgeries were performed, free of charge, in the state of Aragua during epidemiological week number 41, from October 17 to 23, which allowed the resolution of complex visual pathologies in patients recruited through the public health system.

The deployment, according to a press release, of these specialized surgeries focused its efforts on correcting priority conditions such as cataracts and pterygium, directly returning autonomy and well-being to inhabitants of various municipalities in the entity.

The statistical report, reported by Perla Barreto, regional coordinator of the Visual Health Program for Body Health, detailed the distribution of procedures in three pilot centers in the region. The Aragua Regional Ophthalmology Center (CORA) conducted 61 operations, of which 21 were cataracts, and resolved the rest through glaucoma procedures, eye plastic surgery and the placement of avastin injections.

In addition, the Maracay Central Hospital (HCM) hosted four eye plastic surgeries, while the La Candelaria Comprehensive Surgical Diagnostic Center absorbed 22 interventions aimed entirely at removing pterygium.
