With the participation of 277 audiovisual productions, the fourth edition of the Independent Film Festival 2026 opened in Valencia, an event that will run until this Friday, October 16 and has Mexico as its guest country.

The first lady of the state, Nancy de Lacava, said that this time the public will be able to enjoy a varied program in Valencia, San Joaquín, Los Guayos and Guacara, Ultimo Noticias reported.

He stressed that this fourth edition achieved record participation, which highlights the work of the Bolivarian and regional Government in the promotion and dissemination of artistic expressions and, this time, cinema.

“This is a very important activity that we are providing to the city, completely free of charge,” he said.

The sole authority of Culture in Carabobo, Nathaly Bustamante, said that this event motivates and promotes film talent in the region.

“This year the Festival not only stayed in Valencia, apart from the Municipal Theater, people will be able to enjoy an entire program, including the Bolivar exhibition in the cinema. We will also be at the Valencia Art Museum and the Museum of Culture. So the invitation is to be part of this great film festival,” he added.

He reported that one of the honorees of this edition is Andrés Rodríguez, co-director of the film “Turba”, together with his brother Luis Rodríguez, and of another production that will participate in the framework of the festival called “Waiting and the Sea”, both fictional films, he said that being there gives him more strength to continue creating in the seventh art.

“It's a wonderful experience, so we are very grateful for all these spaces that give Venezuelan cinema the opportunity to exist, to approach the public, because if a film is not screened, it's a film that doesn't exist and in some way it's an extremely important window that speaks of our identity, our idiosyncrasy, our dilemmas, our future, our hopes,” he added.

The program is also released through the official accounts @festicine .valence and @secretaria_cult.
