(EL NACIONAL, April 19, 1968)

  • The government was not satisfied with the inveterate adeca practice of raiding newspapers, destroying their newspapers and prohibiting their circulation, the Civil Chief of the Pastor, Tomás Escobar, showing off his partisan militancy, imprisoned a parrot for the crime of insulting him.
  • The bird, named Hector Alberto, had been stolen from its rightful owner, Juana Gómez, by a neighbor for several months. A stay in which he learned to proclaim all sorts of rude words against bystanders and some phrases against the government.
  • Therefore, when the animal began to utter swear words, in the face of the laughter of those who were disputing its ownership, in addition to the secretaries and officials of that public office, the Civil Chief, in a loud and deep voice, ordered: Oh no, that parrot is imprisoned for 24 hours!
  • The owner of the bird in dispute begged the highest civil authority for clemency, so she managed to have her precious and rude pet returned to her the next day.
