A 44-year-old man was deprived of liberty for his alleged responsibility in the murder of his 70-year-old father.

According to a press release from the Public Ministry (MP), the incident occurred on May 2 in a house located in the Las Cuibas sector; belonging to the Agua Viva parish in the Palavecino municipality of the Lara state.

According to the investigation, residents of the said house reported to the Bolivarian National Police (PNB) a fight over the building, so a police commission moved to the place.

Upon arriving at the site, the PNB commission entered the house and spotted the assailant next to his father's body on the floor, still with vital signs but with serious injuries to the cephalic region.

Later, the perpetrator told police officers that he had had a strong argument with his father and beat him several times until he was knocked unconscious.

The victim was quickly taken to the nearest medical facility, but he died soon after being admitted to the emergency room of the Central Hospital.

Under these circumstances, the man was arrested in flagrante delicto and was placed at the disposal of the MP.

During the presentation hearing, Lara's 6th Attorney's Office charged Aranguren Díaz with the alleged commission of intentional homicide qualified to the detriment of his descendant (father).

Once the elements of conviction presented by the fiscal representative had been evaluated, the 1st Control Court of that jurisdiction issued the deprivation of liberty against the aggressor and ordered his temporary detention at the headquarters of the PNB located in the municipality of Palavecino.
