During an interview in the People's Daily, the social-Christian opponent, Hugo Saavedra, made some suggestions to his colleague María Corina Machado (MCM), to whom he pointed out that his “leadership is not political but artistic and image”.

“Some people won't like the comment, but since this is unfiltered, I think María Corina could be an artistic image, María Corina should perhaps dedicate herself to modeling or to suddenly sing reggaeton there,” Saavedra recommended to Machado.

He also indicated that Machado's message is not political or a real campaign message. “She comes and moves an interesting mass, but what is María Corina Machado's message? Walking with the banner saying that Mr. Edmundo (González) is going to be president of Venezuela, but where is the approach to solutions (...) I haven't heard anything at all,” he said.

With regard to Edmundo González, he pointed out that his candidacy, “one of the main problems he has, is that he does not present a real government program for Venezuela.”
