A total of 75 patients with visual difficulties were treated during the fourth Cataract Surgery Day, carried out by the surgical area of the Foundation for Health (Funsalud) in Barinas, where the dream of regaining their visual capacity came true.
According to a press release from the Health portfolio, this operation, framed in the Plan for Health and Life 2026, was carried out simultaneously with the day of pterygium surgery at the entity's Socialist Ophthalmological Surgical Center.
Yotsibel García, doctor and coordinator of Funsalud, together with Rosa Díaz, state manager of the Visual Health Program, highlighted the impact of this deployment. “The joint work between the Miracle Mission, the State Directorate of Health and the Government makes this new surgical opportunity possible. We have a multidisciplinary team of ophthalmic surgeons, anesthesiologists and nurses who provide comprehensive care to patients from different municipalities,” said García.
For their part, the National Public Health System team and the Cuban Medical Mission maintain the continuity of pterygium (fleshy) operations. This pathology, caused by chronic exposure to solar radiation and environmental factors, is treated daily to ensure the well-being and aesthetic improvement of the beneficiaries.
With this surgical deployment, the Ministry of Health strengthens the healthcare network and ensures the free protection of the people, and with the integration of efforts between national and regional institutions, the State's commitment to health sovereignty and the good life of all Venezuelans is reaffirmed.
