(THE EXTRA, SEPTEMBER 21, 1964)
- More than 30 bodies were found by the authorities of the Soublette municipality, in the state of Guárico, without the public being aware of these findings.
- These were 30 young people who were shot, en masse, in the pastures near Altagracia de Orituco del Edo. Guárico.
- It was announced that members of AD's armed gangs (Pedro Carpio and Heriberto Saldivia), municipal authorities and police chiefs were aware of these murders, allegedly committed by repressive bodies in pursuit of the guerrillas.
- The case of two young men who surrendered to government troops under military encirclement, but were shot to death when they tried to seek refuge by climbing trees, was also reported.
- These complaints coincided with the shootings of eleven detainees in Cúpira, edo. Miranda, in late July and early August, including leaders Víctor Soto Rojas and Trino Barrios.
- The government of Raúl Leoni had no choice but to admit the shootings ****given the veracity of the findings and complaints published in all the media.
- Later it became known that the massacre was carried out by Digepol and SIFA agents.
- The orders given to these anti-guerrilla commandos were to “not carry a prisoner tied up”, not to take prisoners, but to execute them on the spot.
- The presence of the victims' bodies was detected by the intense activity of the Zamuros flying over this area of the Guarique pastures.
