21 years ago, Commander Chávez gave a master class for the Sucre Mission

On November 3, 2003, Eternal Commander Hugo Chávez gave a master class on the Sucre Mission in Güiria.

“The Sucre Mission is like Antonio José de Sucre: carrying torches, a torch of knowledge, of moral strength, of unity,” said Commander Chávez.

This program, the third in educational matters promoted by the Supreme Commander after the Robinson (literacy and primary education) and Ribas (high school) missions, was fundamental for those Venezuelans who had not entered the traditional university education system. 21 years later, people of all ages have received their degrees thanks to the Sucre Mission.

In 2008, from the Paramillo University Village, located in Táchira, the Commander conducted another master class, in which he urged the graduates to assume their commitment to the great homeland.

“The Sucre Mission, the new vision of education in Venezuela, and above all, higher education, must move progressively and definitely away from the individualist, capitalist vision of education (...) You are here to train yourself with great humility, to give yourself fully to the fight for others, to the liberation of communities, to the fight against poverty, to the fight to help everyone with greater capacity, with greater knowledge, to participate with the people in the different communal organizations, councils communal units, units of production, goods, services, social movements in defense of the environment,” Chávez reflected.

This mission guarantees free public education through university villages that operate in all municipalities of the country, with the accreditation of the Bolivarian University of Venezuela (UBV).
