2005: Chávez vindicated socialism before the world

On January 30, 2005, Commander Hugo Chávez attended the closing of the V World Social Forum in Porto Alegre, Brazil, where he stated that the only path to the well-being of Peoples is socialism.
“I am a revolutionary and every day I am more revolutionary, because every day I become more convinced that the only path by which we can break capitalist hegemony, we can break the hegemony of the oligarchies of these lands is through the path of revolution, there is no other path (...) only through socialism will we achieve a more just society,” the leader of the Bolivarian Revolution assured the multitude of different social movements that participated in the event.
In this regard, he stated that the path of revolution is forces in South America, while stating that the United States is an empire in decline.
“I am convinced that only by the path of revolution can we get out of the historical abyss we have been in for centuries, 500 years, 200 years (...) Goliath is not invincible, imperialism is not invincible (...) imperialism is beginning to feel its weaknesses,” he added.
20 years after this historic speech of the Eternal Commander, his words remain valid and are a reference for continuing in the struggle to maintain the sovereignty and dignity of Peoples.
