177 districts in Peru registered active transmission of dengue

The director of Strategic Interventions of the Ministry of Health of Peru (MINSA), Cristian Díaz, reported that 177 districts of the South American nation have active transmission of dengue fever.

In this regard, Díaz explained that the north-coastal departments: Tumbes, Piura, Lambayeque and La Libertad; as well as the Amazonian provinces of Loreto, Pucallpa and Madre de Dios are the most affected.

The concept of “active transmission” is used by health departments and health entities to characterize the ongoing spread of an infectious disease within a given community or geographic area.
