On September 19, 1914, the Alma Llanera premiered, a musical theme that was originally composed for a zarzuela by Rafael Bolívar Coronado with the music of the maestro Pedro Elías Gutiérrez, who was at the time director of the Caracas Marcial Band.

This piece, which reflects a sense of respect and roots with the Venezuelan homeland, was presented for the first time at the Teatro de Caracas, by the operetta company of Manolo Puertolas, who had just arrived in the city after a tour of several Latin American countries.

Faced with the great acceptance of the musical piece, Gutiérrez and Bolívar Coronado agreed to make Alma Llanera independent and it was released as a song in Plaza Bolívar by the Caracas Marching Band on December 31, 1914, as part of the musical repertoire that made up the farewell toilet program of the year.

Since then, Alma Llanera has been played by hundreds of artists, capable of stealing the love of compatriots, who have made it an icon at the national level and is even considered as a second national anthem of Venezuela.
