Venezuela is present at the III Latin American Cultural
Festival in Minsk, Belarus, where it exposes the family
customs of the installation of the crib and also the music that
characterizes these dates, such as aguinaldos and bagpipes.
During the activity that took place at the Simón Bolívar Latin American Cultural
Center in Minsk, the first secretary
of the Venezuelan embassy in Belarus, Mairena Nieves, explained
family customs and the importance of the Christmas period for Venezuelans, which is
why the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, officially began the celebrations this year in October.
Nieves also highlighted the traditional music and
festivities that accompany these dates, such as: La Paradura del
Niño, typical of the Venezuelan Andes, and the Dance of the Zaragozas, specifically in the central-western state of Lara.
In addition, he mentioned the cultural richness
surrounding gastronomy in the season, referring to the
main dishes: hallaca and ham bread, which in themselves are an example
of the miscegenation between Europeans, indigenous people and Africans.
The public was very interested in the information and they exchanged opinions; they compared the similarities and differences that exist between Venezuelan and Belarusian Christmas traditions, especially with regard to the celebration of New Year's Eve and the reception of the New Year.
