Venezuela-Gambia Friendship Group to participate in World Anti-Fascist Forum

The National Assembly (AN) installed the Venezuela-Gambia Parliamentary Friendship Group, in the Francisco de Miranda General Hall of the Federal Legislative Palace, as part of the planning of the World Parliamentary Forum against Fascism, Neofascism and Other Similar Expressions, organized by the Legislative Branch and will take place on November 4 and 5, in Caracas.
The president of the group, deputy Azucena Jaspe, indicated that the formalization of the group will allow the strengthening of peace diplomacy and the consolidation of ties between the parliaments of both nations, in a message published on the social networks of the AN.
“We must join forces to guarantee the bonds of friendship between Venezuela and the Gambia and strengthen their union,” stressed the parliamentarian, in a press release published on the AN website.
During the event, the director general of the Office of the Deputy Minister for Africa, Yurlen Rondón, explained that Venezuela is the third country with the largest presence in African nations.
He added that diplomatic ties between Venezuela and the Gambia date back to August 17, 1974 and to date, the two nations have signed more than 22 cooperation instruments in various fields, such as education, health, tourism and agriculture, among others.
He indicated that the formalization of two parliamentary groups, such as the Gambia and Kenya, which were installed simultaneously this Friday, October 18, is an expression of peace democracy that transcends from the Global South, and beyond borders.
Also participating in the activity were the director of the Strategic Office of International Relations of the AN, Sergio Dalessandro; for the Ministry of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, the assistant to the Deputy Minister for Africa, Laura Cordones; the coordinator for West Africa, Luis Paz; and the coordinator for East Africa, Adriana Guzmán.
