Tupamaro celebrates 20th anniversary as a political party loyal to the Bolivarian Revolution

In the framework of the 20th anniversary as the political party of the Tupamaro Revolutionary Movement, a press conference was held led by Williams Benavides, National Secretary General of this political organization, together with members of the National Operational Directorate.

In his words, Benavides recalled the years of revolutionary battle and the legacy of Commander Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías, who invited them to join the struggle as a political party.

“Today is an emotional and festive day for us, as we are celebrating 20 years in the heat of combat with the people, demonstrating and teaching our political project, which is collective leadership. We were born in revolution as an expression of Commander Hugo Chávez”, highlighted Benavides.

He also stressed that before being a political party, they had already been working to defend the revolution, but as a revolutionary movement, for example; in the 2002 coup d'etat, they went out with the people to rescue then-President Hugo Chávez, just as they defended the revolution when oil sabotage, they faced guarimbas and destabilizing events on every occasion that the extreme right has tried to generate a social outbreak in Venezuela.

Benavides added that: “We said that the Tupamaro Revolutionary Movement would take to the streets to defend the Bolivarian revolution so the opposition thought it was a speech, a campaign slogan and we defeated them in the elections and streets, that's where the expression of the people is.”

He added that during its anniversary week, the Tupamaro party will be deployed nationwide developing floral offerings, cultural, sports, recreational activities, forums, talks, videoconferences and comprehensive care days by its medical brigades.

BRICS VENEZUELA

Regarding the XVI BRICS Summit, Benavides recognized the importance of the leadership of President Nicolás Maduro in this phase of the Revolution in building a multipolar world, which also comes from popular struggles, raising and vindicating the flags and anti-imperialist principles of the Tupamaro movement.

He also added that in its anniversary week, the Tupamaro party will be deployed at the national level carrying out cultural, sports, recreational activities, forums, talks, comprehensive care days by its medical brigades, among others.

Finally, he congratulated his militants, supporters and collaborators for their mettle, mystique and morality in the development of his political project to transform society.
