LVBP 2024-2025 season was formally presented (+Innovations)

This Tuesday, October 8, the 2024-2025 season of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP) was formally presented.

The presentation was given by the Minister of Popular Power for Sports, Arnaldo Sánchez, accompanied by the president of the LVBP, Giuseppe Palmisano.

The tournament, which will open next Friday, October 11, with the game between Navegantes del Magallanes and Tiburones de La Guaira, will be held this season in homage to Víctor Davalillo.

“We are happy to kick off the 2024-2025 season and proud of everything that the 2023-2024 campaign meant, in which we had a massive presence of fans, we had the support of media and sponsors,” Palmisano added.

Regarding the innovations, Palmisano highlighted that this season the cameras of the umpires will send a signal to the television stations to review launches and also a radar system. In addition, the anti-doping program is still active, and in the case of exaggerated celebrations, it was a rule approved by all teams and is now officially included in the Code of Ethics and Discipline as a reason for a fine and suspension

For his part, Minister Sánchez, assured that among the objectives is to break the brand of fans from last season and both resources and security devices are guaranteed.

He also argued that President Nicolás Maduro has guaranteed the resources to strengthen the teams of this professional league. “The national government carried out remodeling work on the stadiums in Zulia, Aragua, Anzoátegui and Margarita,” he said.

This season will be played in the same competitive format as the previous one. The regular round will have 56 games for each of the eight teams on the circuit, with private series of eight matches (four as a home club and the same number as visitors).

Once this phase is over, the teams that are in fifth and sixth place in the table will compete in the Wild Card Round, with a maximum of two challenges. If the fifth-place owner wins the first match, he qualifies for Round Robin and there will be no need for the second match.
