The Colombian president, Gustavo Petro, denied this Friday, April 26, that his Government is processing a law that will require Venezuelan women to present a valid passport mandatory in order to travel, visit or reside in Colombia.

Through his account on the social network X, the Colombian president emphasized: “This is not true. My government will not require a passport from Venezuelan migrants,” referring to a publication published by Noticias Caracol, which states that a draft is awaiting presidential approval for its entry into force.

Colombia currently allows Venezuelan citizens to enter its territory with an expired passport of up to 10 years. Another accepted route for transit is the so-called Border Mobility Card, which is temporarily processed in municipalities bordering the wide common border.
