President Arce: ALBA-TCP must act in the face of threats to world peace and global challenges

The President of Bolivia, Luis Arce, proposed a series of actions and strategies in the face of the various threats to world peace and the constant global challenges.

“The world is facing political, social and economic uncertainty exacerbated by the persistent negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the consequences of the multilateral crisis of capitalism,” he emphasized.

This was expressed in his speech at the XXIII Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP).

He stressed that ALBA-TCP currently has an opportunity to ratify its commitment to the founding principles of promoting Latin Americanism.

“Since its creation in 2004, this alliance has been a beacon of hope for the Peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean, promoting brotherhood, solidarity, cooperation and complementarity and reciprocity,” he said.

In this regard, he pointed out that firm and decisive action is needed by ALBA-TCP, “in the face of the unacceptable genocide that is taking place in the Gaza Strip (...) by Israel against the Palestinian people.”

He also criticized U.S. funding for countries in conflict, which seeks to continue to encourage global destabilization.

Among its proposals, it stands out to form an international brigade to support the Palestinian People, with personnel specialized in disaster management and health professionals, and then extending its action to food, education, and construction, among other support.

He also questioned and rejected the United States veto in the Security Council against Palestine, which requested its membership in the United Nations (UN).

Another point questioned by Arce was the kidnapping of the former vice-president of Ecuador, Jorge Glas, by the Ecuadorian government.
